Green Day - March 2017
The LEAF (LEarning About Forests) project is a new venture for our school. The aim of this initiative is to foster and increase love and awareness for endemic and indigenous trees.
Within the EkoSkola Committee, a number of Tree Troopers have been selected to encourage the school community to develop and reinforce connections with parents and the community, informing them about our green initiatives and spreading the LEAF message.
A survey has already been carried out to assess the level of tree awareness , what kind of trees can be found at school and to find out about any shortcomings.
During the months of November and December, a No Christmas Card event was organised. Instead of buying Christmas cards, pupils were encouraged to prepare a card themselves for the whole class using recyclable material and to give a 50c donation. With the money collected, an indigenous tree will soon be planted in the school yards.
